Real Life Examples
Perhaps the best real life examples are our own animals. Both Sarah and Jon got new puppies this year, and they both used Sounds Sociable with these pups from 3 weeks of age, to get them used to a wide range of potentially scary sounds. They both used DAP diffusers to help their pups settle in and travel. Harry and Quaver, the two dogs, are still young but both have developed with a compete confidence with people, noises and other dogs. This is in good part the result of the training techniques we detail in Sounds Sociable and habituation with the CD.
Natalie, a rehabilitation trainer from Italy, used the Sounds Sociable Cd when her dog Megan had given birth to a litter of 7 golden retriever puppies. When they were sold to their new owners they all adapted very well to their new environment and have developed into confident, social dogs.
Carol, a teacher from Stockport, contacted Sound Therapy 4 Pets after Bonfire night Nov 2005. Carol had observed her 1 year old border collie 'Zac' becoming increasingly anxious over the firework season, running around barking, salivating and shaking. Zac then refused to go outside when it became dark. The Sound Scary CD was recommended to Carol and she was advised to begin the therapy program as soon as the firework season had ended and Zac's anxiety levels had decreased. After Bonfire night 2006 Carol reported that there was a marked improvement in Zac's behaviour with far less anxious behaviour displayed.
Another happy customer has discovered the benefits of the Sounds Scary CD.I've been using my Sounds Scary CD with my gun-shy beagle as well as some very young pups I'm raising. Their response is far better than I'd ever dreamed! The pups have almost been oblivious through the daily sessions and the 1 1/2 yr-old male is so calm and happy after just two weeks I can hardly believe it!
Eleanor, a customer service assistant from Glasgow, received the fantastic news that she was pregnant and due to give birth in September 2006. Eleanor owned a 3 year old jack russel terrier called 'Alfie' who had been her little baby since she picked him up at 8 weeks of age . Eleanor was quite concerned about how the arrival of her newborn would affect Alfie and so contacted Sound Therapy 4 Pets. The Sounds Soothing CD (plus additional booklet of practical advice) was recommended to Eleanor to begin straight away. Leading up to the birth Eleanor worked with Alfie to prepare him for the changes that were going to occur and after the happy birth of Sam on the 12th September, Eleanor, Sam and Alfie have all adjusted well and all Eleanor now needs to work on is teaching Alfie to help change the nappies!
