Behaviour Therapy

Behaviour Therapy for the Management of These Problems:

The Dog Appeasing Pheromone (DAP) has also been proved useful in reducing firework related fear behaviour. It is a pheromone that is secreted by lactating females and creates a reassuring environment. Medication can also be used, but is not successful by itself and can only be prescribed by a vet. There are CD recordings for treatment of noise fears, for example ‘Sounds Scary’, 'Sounds Speedy', ‘Sounds Soothing’ and ‘Sounds Sociable’. They contain a programme of sound sequences to gradually desensitize your dog to potentially frightening noises. Neither are purely successful on their own, but a combination of all provides a successful outcome.
